The golden Salmon of Knowledge was believed to have all the knowledge in the world, and if you caught and ate him you would inherit all his wisdom. There lived a friendly giant named Finn McCool, who like many others, sought to catch this powerful fish. When Finn caught him however, he realized he didn't have the heart to kill such a beautiful creature. He carefully removed the hook from the fish's mouth but in doing so, he pricked his thumb. Finn put his thumb in his mouth to suck on his wound, but a drop of the fish's blood mixed with his own and he immediately received all of the knowledge in the world! From that day forward, anytime anyone that needed help solving a problem Finn would just suck on his thumb and the answer would come to him! He spent the rest of his life assisting the High Kings of ancient Ireland and peacefully resolved many arguments and disputes. |
