St. Patrick was a Gentleman
We use this song to teach young dancers the rhythm of Irish music.
It's also a great way to learn about St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland.

St. Patrick was a Gentleman,
he came from decent people. He built a church in Dublin town, and on it was a steeple. His mother was a Gallaher, his father was a Grady, his uncle was an O'Shaughnessy, his auntie was a Brady. The Wicklow hills are very high, much higher than in Ulster. But there's a hill much higher still, much higher than them both, sir. And on top of this high hill, St. Patrick preached a sermon. He drove the frogs into the bogs, and banished all the vermin! |
